Another addition to the more modern classroom is the interactive desks/ workspaces created for students. As pointed out in the article The 'Star Trek' style touchscreen classroom of the future that's set to replace books and blackboards the world of dusty chalkboards is quickly coming to an end. Although this article was written in Europe and focuses on the changes happening there, we are beginning to see more and more technology like this here in North America. These interactive desks allow students to work on there own or with classmates at there desks through the use of touchscreen technologies. There is also the ability through many forms of these boards for teachers to write notes that will show up right in front of their students on the screen featured as part of their desks as well as on the chalkboard. Not only will this cut back on the dust we see in classrooms but may also assist children with vision issues that were centered out in class and forced to sit at the front of the room.
